For team leads and meeting hosts
A meme icebreaker game for team meetings
Punchline is a quick, free caption game that gets a quiet meeting laughing. Everyone plays on their own device, nobody needs an account, and a ‘safe memes only’ switch keeps it work-friendly.

Why does a caption game work as an icebreaker?
- Everyone takes part at once. Nobody has to perform on camera. You write, then the group reacts together.
- Voting is anonymous. Memes appear without names, so quieter people often surprise everyone.
- It is short. A game takes around 15 minutes with the default settings, or under 10 if the host cuts the rounds and timer.
- No IT request needed. It runs in any browser, with no downloads, accounts or installs.
How do you run it in a meeting?
- Before the meeting, open punchline.party, pick a name and press start.
- In the lobby, tick Safe memes only, then set 3 rounds and a 60-second caption timer for a game of under 10 minutes.
- Paste the invite link into the meeting chat. People join on a phone or a spare browser tab.
- Press start once everyone is in. Keep microphones on for the reveal.
- At the end, the podium crowns the winner. You can save the best memes for the team channel.
Is it work-friendly?
- Safe memes only limits the game to a gentler set of templates.
- The darker ‘Unhinged’ memes are off by default and never appear unless the host turns them on.
- Captions are written by your team, so it is as tame as your team makes it.
- There are no ads and no accounts, and nothing your team writes is published anywhere. The memes stay in your game, and only your team sees them.
