For servers, group calls and streams
A meme game to play on Discord
No bot to install and no permissions to ask for. Punchline runs in the browser, so you drop one link in a channel, stay in voice, and everyone plays from their own screen.

Why a browser game rather than a Discord bot?
- No admin rights needed. Anyone can start a game. You don’t need to own the server or persuade a moderator to add a bot.
- Works anywhere you can paste a link. Server channels, group DMs, a voice call with two mates: it’s all the same.
- Nothing to install. Players open the link in a browser tab on their computer or phone, play, and close it afterwards.
- Proper memes, properly drawn. Everyone gets a full-size template with text boxes they can drag, resize and restyle, which is hard to do in a chat window.
How to play a meme game on Discord
- Get everyone into a voice channel or group call. Keep microphones on: the reveal is the best bit.
- Open punchline.party, pick a name and a character, and press start.
- Paste the invite link into the text channel. People click it, type a name and they’re in.
- Choose the rounds, caption timer and memes, then start the game once everyone has joined.
- Caption, vote and crown. When it’s over, save the best memes and post them straight back into the channel.
Streaming it on Discord or Twitch
Punchline works well on stream. Share your screen with Go Live so viewers can see the memes, and post the invite link for anyone who wants to join. Up to 16 people can play, and up to 50 more can join a private room as the audience: they see every meme and vote on each one, but don’t write captions. The whole audience counts as one extra voter, so a big crowd can’t outvote the players, and the game never waits for them.
Settings for a Discord crowd
- Rounds and timer. Five rounds with the default timer takes about 15 minutes. For a quick one between other games, try 3 rounds and a 60-second timer.
- Meme sources. Mix all-time classics, trending, brand-new templates and animated GIFs, or stick to TV and film moments.
- Unhinged. For servers that like it darker, the host can switch on Unhinged, which mixes in ruder templates. It’s off by default and never used in public games.
- Voting time. Each meme stays up for votes for 10 seconds to a minute, set by the host. Shorter keeps a big server moving.
- Safe memes only. Going the other way, this keeps the game to a gentler set of templates for family or work servers.
Bigger servers
Each room holds 16 players. For more, split into a few rooms with different codes and compare winners at the end, or let everyone else join as the audience.
Questions
Is there a meme game bot for Discord?
Punchline is not a bot. It runs in the browser alongside Discord, so you only need to share a link. That means no permissions, no setup and nothing for a server admin to approve.
Is it free?
Yes. Punchline is free with no ads and no sign-up. It is kept running by players who choose to chip in.
How many people can play on a Discord call?
Up to 16 players per room, with up to 50 more watching and voting as the audience in a private room.
Can my stream viewers vote?
Yes. Viewers with the invite link can choose Just watch and vote. Together the audience counts as one extra voter, so the players still decide the winner.
Does it work for people on Discord mobile?
Yes. Players on a phone open the invite link in their browser while staying in the voice channel in the Discord app.
